Committee sets deadline to oust Kuki terrorist

Expressing concern over the prevailing unrest situation in Jiribam where Meetei community are facing attacks from Kuki narco-terrorists, Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Coordinating Committee for Peace has demanded removal of Kuki narco-terrorists from the district within 15 days by sending/ deploying state forces in adequate strength or face intense public agitation.
Addressing media persons at Khwairamband Keithel, here, on Sunday, Committee convenor Laishram Mema recounted their recent visit to Jiribam to assess the situation first-hand and submitted a memorandum to the Health Minister and DGP, requesting adequate security forces to prevent attacks on the Meetei community, which include arson attacks on homes.
They also highlighted issues such as staff shortages at Jiribam hospital, condition of the blood bank and hospital power supply.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the response of both state and central governments to the crisis, Mema pointed out inadequate security measures in Jiribam and insufficient empowerment of existing forces to handle the situation.
Additionally, locals are facing challenges with healthcare facilities.
Therefore, they emphasised the urgent need to deploy adequate forces to Jiribam within the next 15 days.
