Imphal, March 04 2025:
Expressing that imposition of the President's Rule in the State is an opportune moment for the central authorities to launch crackdown on Kuki 'terrorists', Shiv Sena Manipur president M Tombi has stressed the need for implementing the National Register of Citizens (NRC) at the earliest to counter the demands for a separate administration and Kukiland.
In a press meet held at the party's office in Babupara on Tuesday, M Tombi said that an umbrella entity had been set up in Myanmar along with the Junta, which could undermine India s geopolitics and leave the bonafide citizens vulnerable.

He observed that the Indian government should be well aware than the ordinary citizens about the chaos in the state and destruction caused to homes of thousands.
He also pointed out the need to rein in the Kangpokpi-based Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), while explaining that the right to free speech does not equate to being able to say anything without repercussions.
Tombi then urged the central government to demonstrate that this is a land governed by law, while reiterating the demand for swift implementation of the NRC and the enforcement of uniform land laws in the state.
He stated that the Union Home Minister should respond to CoTU's declaration not to allow free movement on the national highways in Kuki-Zo areas and make it clear that no one is above the law.
Tombi continued that after the Governor extended the deadline for village volunteers to surrender illegally possessed weapons by March 6, many responded positively.
Welcoming the Union Home Minister s instruction to ensure free movement along the highways by March 8, he said that the route to Moreh, which is around 110 km from Imphal, is the sole means of livelihood for many impoverished people.
According to the Shiv Sena leader, Manipur had three valleys - Barak Valley, Kabo Valley and the current valley districts - left behind by the forefathers.
He noted that the central government has finally opened its eyes to the mass plantation of poppies in hill areas by non-indigenous people, who then go on to manufacture the drugs to wipe out the youth of the state.
Describing the ongoing conflict as a proxy war, Tombi remarked that there is no need to hire outsiders to educate one's children.
He asserted that village volunteers are not anti-nationals or terrorists and suggested that it would be prudent for the centre to tackle the sophisticated weapons in the hands of armed Kukis, prompting their surrender.
He also called for a thorough investigation of all individuals involved under the SoO agreement, affirming that the suspects would not include any of the original Kukis of Manipur.
He questioned as to what step the centre would take if the other community do not surrender the weapons, and urged for rectifying the drug menace in the state, which has been fuelled by illegal immigrants.
He then lambasted both the BJP and Congress for engaging in blame game amid the current critical juncture.
He further called for expediting the border fencing works in view of the unstable situation in Myanmar, while stating that once SoO is withdrawn, peace would return in the state.
