KIM, Forest Dept observe Van Mahotsav

Churachandpur, July 03 2024:
Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) in collaboration with the district Forest Department on Wednesday observed Van Mahotsav by planting 1100 saplings across 12 villages and sites.
As part of the observance, an event was held at KIM secretariat office with its members and three representatives from the Forest Department in attendance.
The event was led by Breeze Kimneithem, followed by a speech from Churachandpur Forest range officer Boimang as Lhing, wife of KIM general secretary Khaikhohauh Gangte, conducted the blessing and closing prayer of the plantation drive.
Thereafter, sapling plantations were carried out in K Thangnem village, S Lhangnem, Toljang, and S Gamnomjang, besides other places.
During the plantation, 30 saplings of bauhinia, 100 each of gulmohar, bokul, leihao, tel, lemon and parkia, chal (50), palm (70), manahi (89), golden shower (11), theimuhkoi (200) and mixed (100) saplings were planted.
It may be mentioned here that, the forest department initiated tree plantation drives to foster environmental awareness and stewardship among the yduth and the community.
The goal is to combat deforestation, enhance biodiversity, and contribute to a healthier environment and ecosystem and instil a sense of responsibility and connection to nature among the younger generation, ensuring a sustainable future.
