Two killed in road accidents

Imphal, June 03 2024:
At least two persons were killed in road accidents in Bishnupur and Thoubal districts on Sunday.
The victims were a 26-year old youth and a 40-year old man.
As per police source, the road accident in Bishnupur district occurred near the bridge at Nambol Keithel under Nambol police station on Sunday around 11 pm.
A Mahindra Scorpio (MN01AW 3031) coming from Bishnupur side at high speed hit a Royal Enfield motorcycle (MN01AE 9662), coming from the opposite direction.
RK Srinivash (28) son of Ibopishak of Kabowakching, who was driving the motorcycle, got injured and rushed for treatment at Shija Hospitals, while the pillion rider, Laishram Somorjit (26) son of late Premchandra of Maibam Chingmang died.
His body was brought to RIMS mortuary and subsequently handed over to the family after the post mortem examination oh Monday.
A case has been registered at Nambol police station, and driver of Mahindra Scorpio arrested while the vehicle seized.
Another accident occurred at Thoubal Khekman under Thoubal police station on Sunday around 1.30 pm when a Tata Truck (MN06T 0443) had a head-on collision with a Mahindra Scorpio (MN01AK 3111).All the four occupants in the Mahindra Scorpio were injured and rushed to Shija Hospitals for treatment.
However, 40-year-old Thongam Deepak, son of Tomal of Thoubal Khekman died.
The other three injured have been identified as H Khogen (29) son of H Naba, L Sanajaoba (29) son of Yaima and W Rajendro (45) son of Sanajaoba, all residents of Thoubal Khekman.
Rajendro has been discharged after first aid as his injuries were minor.
Meanwhile, family members claimed the body of Thongam Deepak after post mortem at JNIMS on Monday.
The driver of the involved Tata Truck has been arrested and the truck seized.
A case has been registered at Thoubal police station for further investigation.
