Imphal, August 02 2025:
Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in connection with the killing of Khullakpam Seema Shahni has demanded immediate release of the forensic report related to the case and legal action against those involved, warning of intense agitation if their demands are not met within a week.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, on Saturday, JAC co-convenor Md Wahidur Rahman strongly condemned the police's inaction and lack of communication with both the JAC and the victim's family.
He urged the police to bring all those involved in the brutal murder, including Seema Shahni's husband Mujibur Rehman, to justice.
Rahman stated that Mujibur Rehman, who is currently in custody, should be sentenced to life imprisonment.
"It is deeply unfortunate that ever since he was jailed, the police have not provided any updates or information about the case to the JAC or the victim's family," he said.
He further demanded that the chargesheet be filed at the earliest and legal proceedings be initiated against Mujibur Rehman and all others involved in the crime.
According to the investigating officer, the forensic report is still pending.
The JAC insisted that the report be released within seven days to ensure that justice is delivered.
Failing this, the JAC, along with other civil society organisations and meira paibi associations, would launch intense forms of agitation to press for justice, it warned.
