RIMS Electrical Section building inaugurated

Imphal, February 02 2022: Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal director Prof A Santa Singh on Wednesday inaugurated the newly constructed Electrical Section building.

Speaking at the event, Prof Santa informed the gathering that the annual budget of RIMS, Imphal has been increased by 27.6 percent for the 2022-23 fiscal with the allocation of Rs 560 crore in the Union Budget presented on Tuesday.

While stating that the allocation is at par with the other top ranking medical institutes in India, he' opined that increase in the budget might be due to high performance of the institute.

"We have done very good work during the current financial year amidst, COVID-19 pandemic.

The ministry is also closely monitoring the progress of works being taken up in the institute.

We were able to utilise 76 percent fund during the 2nd quarter of the financial year which is one of highest amongst the central medical institutes", he said.

The director also acknowledged that the institute's achievement reflects team work of all concerned.

It is really a proud moment that we as a team could achieve so much of things this year," he said.

The increase of budget to Rs 560 crore has set a benchmark of high standard the benefits of which will be wit -nessed in the coming years, he said and adding that the.

ministry has also approved establishment of Critical Care Block in the institute.

RIMS was one of the 12 central medical institutes selected to be a mentor institute, the director continued and stated that Civil Section of Central Workshop will also be shifted to the new building very soon.

The present premises may be converted as Utilities Block for which necessary facilities will be provided to both Electrical and Civil Section of Central Workshop, he said.

Medical superintendent Prof N Sanjib Singh in his presidential address thanked the Director for initiating many developmental programme related to patient care services.

"Many doctors, nurses and other Para-medical staff have been working in this difficult time and we were also getting necessary support due to strong support from the media fraternity.

The roles of the media are very important especially during this COVID-19 pandemic," he noted.

Manipur State Cooperative Union (Technical Engineering Cell) chief executive officer O Jiten Singh, Central Workshop consultant (Electrical) L Kumar Singh, consultant (Civil), engineering staff of Central Workshop and officials also attended the programme.
