Governor hard sells state's riches to MP students
Kakching MLA accords welcome and interacts with Indore team

Imphal/Kakching, March 31 2023:
Governor Anusuiya Uikey interacted with a team of visiting students and faculty members from Indian Institute of Technology,(IIT), Indore and National Institute of Technology (NIT), Manipur at Raj Bhavan here on Friday.
In all, 49 students from different parts of Madhya Pradesh are visiting Manipur under Yuva Sangam, Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme.
While interacting with the visiting students, the Governor said that under the collective vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme has been launched to facilitate youths of the country to go across states and get in touch with people.
This initiative, people to people contact will increase and people can understand each other's culture, tradition, attire, food habits, life styles and language.
This will help students to know different cultures, traditions, language, etc., and eventually help them to be perfect in life, she added.
Uikey further said that the whole North East and especially Manipur is naturally a beautiful place to visit.
She described Manipur's culture as unique and its people religious.
"Traditional attire of Manipur is worth mentioning and we can enjoy its beauty even in religious festivals.
Women are taking a good role even in socio economic front and Ima Market is a living example of women empowerment in the state", the Governor said.
She then asked the students to share their knowledge and experiences about Manipur to their families and friends.
The Governor also expressed hope that such a cultural exchange initiative among the youth of the country will definitely help in achieving unity in diversity for making a strong India in days to come.
Speaking on the occasion, NIT Manipur director Prof Goutam Sutradhar opined that the programme is a unique opportunity for the youth of the country to explore others' cultures, histories, traditions, beliefs, etc.
Earlier in the day, the IIT, Indore team was accorded warm welcome by Kakching MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar, who also interacted with them at the auditorium of Library' and Information Centre, Kakching Phousupat Leikai on Friday.
Apart from Rameshwar, the interaction programme was attended by Kakching additional deputy commissioner A Adahrii Maheo, IIT Indore, Manipur chapter co-ordinator and NIT Manipur registrar Kh Tomba and ex-minister Nongmaithem Nimai as presidium members.
A cultural programme showcasing Manipuri dances, Thang-ta and pung, dhol and dholok cholom was also organised as part of the event.
Simple gifts were also presented to the visiting team by MLA Rameshwar and the team also presented a gift to the MLA in appreciation.
