Imphal, January 28 2025: Protesting against the recent appointment of a new principal from another institution, students of GP Women's College locked the office of the principal on Tuesday.

The students demanded that the senior most teacher of the college be appointed as the new principal.

Speaking to reporters during the protest, a student representative confided that they have been urging authorities concerned for the appointment of one of the senior-most teachers from within the college as the principal.

However, the government has instead assigned a teacher from another college to take on the principal's role, she rued, calling the government's move as unacceptable.

She demand that the government revoke the order within 24 hours, while reiterating that no teacher from other institution should be appointed as the principal of GP Women's College.
