Imphal, June 25 2024:
Miffed by the protracted neglect of dilapidated condition of the Heirangoi-thong-Manipur University Road by the authority concerned, Heirangoithong Thongkha Meira Paibi Lup has warned of closing down the road if the government fails to repair it at the earliest.
In a statement, the Meira Paibi tup informed that the 170-metre long road is an important connecting link despite its short length.
Apart from day-to-day activities, the road is frequently used by students.
Unfortunately, the condition of the road has deteriorated severely due to frequent passing of heavy trucks and machineries of Keystone Infra Pvt Ltd for the retaining wall project of Nambul River.
They had talked about the matter with manager of the construction company as well as the Langthabal MLA twice and the manager had assured of blacktopping the road.
Unfortunately, no initiatives have been taken up till date.
Considering the condition of the road, the locals have resolved to blockade the road if repair work is not taken up within four days.
During the closure, all sorts of commercial vehicular movement including school van service will not be allowed, the statement added.
