Governor urged to expedite Senapati-Phaibung road project

Senapati, April 23 2025:
The Ngamju (Kahme) village authority council (VAC) submitted a representation to the Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla through the Senapati deputy commissioner seeking the former's intervention in expediting construction of the Senapati-Phaibung road.
The representation signed by Ngamju VAC general secretary S Eliyah Paoraih and chairman PP Gideon urged the Governor to intervene and revive the neglected Senapati-Phaibung road abandoned by the 25 BRTF/84 RCC .
The council informed the Governor that Senapati to Phaibung road was sanctioned under special developmental package in the year 2001 (11/2/2001NFSC) for the most backward regions between Senapati and Ukhrul districts with the funding pattern of 90:10 percent by Centre and state government.
This road connects NH-2 at TNK Senapati village in the south and joins with Tadubi-Ukhrul road at Phaibung Khullen village with a total distance of 128.90km.Unfortunately, not even formation Cutting was done at Ngamju village for a stretch of about 1km till date.
At the same time, Bailey bridges constructed over the Iril river and Voree river at Ngamju village are at risk as no maintenance has been done after its completion.
Ngamju villagers extended their maximum cooperation to the BRTF officials and migrant labourers during the Covid-19 pandemic and pleaded 25 BRTF/84 RCC officials to complete the formation cutting and join the two ends but turn deaf ears to their earnest request, it said and appealed Governor to look into the matter and complete the Senapati-Phaibung road construction.
