Imphal, August 22 2026:
Sagolband Assembly Constituency MLA RK Imo Singh on Friday extended financial assistance to frontline health workers of the Urban Primary Health Centre, Sagolband.
From his personal salary account, the MLA provided Rs 10,000 each to 14 ASHA Health Workers and one Multitasking Staff.
The gesture comes amid delays in the release of their honorarium by the concerned department.
Speaking on the initiative, RK Imo said the assistance was not a replacement for their legitimate dues but a sincere effort to help the workers and their families meet essential needs during the delay.
He acknowledged that ASHA workers have been rendering tireless service at the grassroots level for years.
Their duties include supporting the UPHC, participating in special health camps, conducting household visits, assisting citizens with ABHA enrolment, and other community health activities.
"Frontline health workers are an essential link between healthcare institutions and the community.
Their dedication, often carried out quietly and without recognition, deserves respect and appreciation", the MLA stated.
"This is a small personal initiative, but a sincere gesture of appreciation for the dedication and service of our health workers.
Their commitment to the people and the community deserves our respect and recognition", he added.
