Minister Basantakumar inaugurates school, bridge

Education minister Th Basantakumar, on Wednesday, inaugurated a newly constructed building of Utlou Makha High School and a bridge constructed over Merakhong Maril connecting Utlou Makha with Utlou Awang.
The inauguration function of the new building of Utlou Makha High School constructed under RMSA was attended by Padmashri Th Chaoba, education director L Nandkumar, Bishnupur ZEO N Chingkhei and Nambol BDO T Shyamkumar as presidium members.
The bridge inauguration ceremony also saw the presence of PWD chief engineer Subash Ningombam, additional chief engineer Ch Bishwachandra and other PWD officials.
Speaking at the inauguration of the bridge, minister Basantakumar informed that the construction work on the bridge began in 2019 with funding from the Central Reserve Fund.
He credited the initiation of the project to former deputy chief minister Padmashri 111 Chaoba, who, during his tenure as Union Minister, had actively pursued the project with the central government.
The minister also mentioned that the government is planning to construct a model road and a bridge in Nambol assembly constituency by 2026.Additionally,, all existing MDR, ODR, and IVR roads will be upgraded in line with modern standards, benefiting not just Nambol but also the entire state, he assured.
