World Food Day observed; medical camp held

The Indian Army commemorated World Food Day on Wednesday by organising a series of welfare activities in Churachandpur, Imphal West and Tengnoupal districts to promote food security, nutrition awareness, and provide immediate relief to vulnerable communities.
According to PRO Defence, awareness lectures on food security and the importance of a balanced diet were held at Government JB School, S Nabil village, Churachandpur district.
The lectures stressed the importance of nutritious food in fostering a healthy future and encouraged the use of locally available resources and self-reliant farming techniques, including organic farming.
In Tengnoupal and Imphal West districts, the Army organised additional awareness programmes at T Yangnom village in Moreh and Khurkhul village in Imphal West.
The events had participation of over 200 villagers from T Yangnom, B Mounnaveng, and Lhangkichoi.
The discussions covered government schemes like Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, the National Food Security Act (NFSA), and the Mid-Day Meal Scheme, said the PRO in a release.
On the other-hand, the Indian Army conducted a medical camp for children at Brightway Foundation Orphanage, Terakhong in Bishnupur district on Wednesday during which a dedicated team of Indian Army medical officers and nursing staff provided comprehensive health check-ups, consultations, and treatments to 52 children, including 29 girls.
Additionally, a medicine distribution counter was set up to ensure that patients receive essential medications after their consultations, said the PRO in another release.
