Sit-in demands repairing of Sugnu link road

Kakching, August 13 2024: Demanding immediate repairing of the road stretch from Wabagai Lamkhai to Sugnu, which remains in poor shape despite multiple appeals, sit-in demonstrations were staged at Tangjeng Khunou and Wabagai Lamkhai, on Monday.

The sit-in at Tangjeng Khunou, organised by Lamkhai to Sugnu Road State Highway Development and Demand Committee, was participated by Tangjeng Khunou, Tangjeng Khunjao, Chajing Khunou, Korshantabi, and Khongyam villagers while Sugnu and Wapokpi residents took part at the Sugnu Bazar demonstration.

Informing that the sit-in were staged as per the resolution adopted in a public meeting held on August 7 along with transport operators, members of the Demand Committee highlighted that the state highway that links four assembly constituencies has been neglected for 12-13 years without any major repairing or construction.

The agitation will continue until August 16 at different locations, with further actions, including bandhs or blockades, planned in case government authorities do not react positively.
