Imphal, February 13 2025:
Manipur Home Guard Employees' Welfare Association has expressed strong resentment over the state government's decision to exclude home guard personnel from the recent enhancement of dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees to 39 per cent.
Association president Y Mangi stated that while other employees benefited from the increase, home guard personnel remain stuck at a mere 14 per cent DA.
Speaking at a press meet at his residence on Thursday, Mangi highlighted the rising prices of essential commodities and the financial strain faced by home guard personnel.
Despite performing duties on par with regular police personnel, they are not even provided with ration money, let alone the DA enhancement, he said.
In response to this neglect, the association has filed a petition in the High Court of Manipur on February 9, seeking increase of DA to 39 per cent.
Mangi also pointed out that the Supreme Court had dismissed a review petition filed against its 2015 judgment on the matter.
Citing financial hardships faced by home guard personnel in managing their families, he urged the state government to address their concerns by enhancing their DA and providing ration money.
