Attack on journalist, ambulance condemned

Joint Non-Government Voluntary Organisation (JNGVO), Kakching has strongly condemned attack on Kakching correspondent of the Poknapham and The People's Chronicle as well as ambulance of Jivan Hospital, Kakching on September 10 during the students' protest.
In a release, JNGVO expressed serious concern that the protestors in Kakwa area, attacked correspondent Sanjay Wangjamcha and damaged his Maruti Alto (MN-01S-0923), despite identifying himself as journalist.
While reminding that journalists have been relentlessly working to provide precise information on a daily basis, including the on-going crisis in the state, JNGVO also decried unruly conduct by personnel of Rapid Action Force (RAF) near Singjamei police station, Kakwa.
It recounted that the RAF personnel stopped an ambulance (MN-01-0007) heading towards Imphal carrying Jivan Hospital, YN College of Nursing principal and four female staffers and assaulted the driver while forcing the female staffers to disembark from the ambulance for sue as human shield from the protesters.
The organisation further maintained that such action tantamount to suppression of human rights by central forces, and demanded that authority concerned take appropriate legal action against the personnel involved in the incident.
