Eat Right Mela, Walkathon held in Kamjong, Kpi

Imphal, August 12 2022:
The Eat Right Mela and Walkathon 2022 which is being observed as part of celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and 75 years of India's Independence, continued on Friday in Kamjong and Kangpokpi districts.
Organised by Kamjong Food Safety Administration under the guidance of Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), hundreds of people especially students participated in Eat Right Mela that was held at Town Hall, Kamjong HQ.
The formal function was attended by Kamjong SDO Samuel, CMO Dr Lucy Duidang and SP P Manjit Singh as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
The observance kicked off with walkathon from Town Hall and passed through Kamjong Gate before culminating at Town Hall where the Eat Right Mela was inaugurated.
Experts related to food safety and related aspects namely national awardees Yangmila Zimik, Dr Bikanan-da Nongmaithem and State Food Analyst Ch Sanajaoba Meitei delivered speeches on importance of eating food right and the concerns over food safety.
As a part of the function, painting and quiz competitions were held for school students in different categories and best food stall selected and rewarded accordingly.
As a special part of the function, renowned bodybuilders Solimla Jajo and Solan Jajo with their team presented a demonstration.
In Kangpokpi district, the Eat Right Walkathon cum Eat Right Mela on the theme 'Eat Right, Eat Healthy and Eat Sustainable' was held at the Multipurpose Hall of DC Office Complex on Friday.
The function was organised by Food Safety Administration, Kangpokpi with an objective to celebrate freedom of choice of food to enable all citizens to eat right.
The walkathon was flagged off by deputy commissioner Kengoo Zuringla from the office of Chief Medical Officer and it culminated at Deputy Commissioner's Office Complex.
As part of the event, cultural dance was performed by ECA Church followed by painting and written quiz competition participated by students of JNV, JN Public School, Elite Higher Secondary School and Lighthouse School among others.
Prizes were also distributed to the position holders during the event, attended by CMO Dr Lamkhoneng Haokip, Town Committee chairperson Adam Leivon and officials of the Food Safety administration.
