Stalled projects in Chandel peeves ANTA

Chandel, June 07 2024:
Expressing dissatisfaction over alleged inaction by the Rural Engineering Department/ Manipur State Rural Development Agency (MSRRDA) and the state government regarding developmental projects in Chandel district, Anal Naga Tangpi (ANTA) (Anal Naga Union) has warned of launching intense agitations if no progress is made by June 20 .
In a statement, ANTA listed projects such as the PMGSY work from Lambung to Phiran Khullen, Chakpikarong to long Lamkhai and Sugnu Tribal to Thungcheng via Christian School (M Mojol), which remained incomplete despite allocation of fund and award of contracts.
The statement pointed out that the Lambung to Phiran Khullen project has been awarded to special class contractor L Romesh Meetei inclusive of Rs 653.10 lakh for construction and Rs 65.31 lakh for maintenance.
The Chakpikarong to Challong Lamkhai project also awarded to Romesh, amounting to Rs.318.97 lakh for construction and Rs 31.90 lakh for maintenance, also remains stalled.
The Sugnu Tribal to Thungcheng via Christian School (M Mojol) project awarded to special contractor SN Pavei with a total contract value of Rs 307.76 lakh for construction and Rs 30.77 lakh for maintenance remains untouched despite the stipulated 18-month timeframe for completion, the release added.
Stating that the projects must see progress by June 20, 2024, ANTA demanded the state government to take swift and decisive action to hold accountable those responsible for the mismanagement of public funds and the failure to execute essential development works.
