AMCO hails Dr Bimol Akoijam, calls for peace

Imphal, July 06 2024: All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO), which represents diverse Christian communities and denominations across the state, has extended appreciation to Inner Manipur MP Dr Bimol Akoijam, praising him for the resolute stance and powerful speech deliv ered in defence of the people of Manipur and other North Eastern states.

In a statement, AMCO highlighted Dr Bimol's capable leadership and potential to effect positive change, safeguard religious freedom, and promote peace in the strife-torn state.

The organisation offered prayers for him and acknowledged the significant impact of his efforts.

AMCO also appreciated the endeavours of the government and allstakehold-ers for restoring peace and reconciliation in the state.

It acknowledged gradual return to normalcy, allowing individuals to exercise their fundamental right to freedom of worship, a right guaranteed to every citizen by the Constitution of India.

The organisation noted the ongoing efforts to diminish instances of ethnic violence, striving for normalcy and enhanced security measures in the state.

Additionally, AMCO shared the burdens and inconveniences faced during natural calamities, such as floods in the valley and landslides in affected areas, compounded by the tension of ethnic clashes since May 2023.Furthermore, AMCO made a heartfelt appeal to all communities and religions to foster love, harmony, and peaceful coexistence within the state of Manipur.

It also emphasised the importance of unity and mutual respect in overcoming the challenges faced by the state.
