MU VC advises students to acquire new skills

Manipur University vice-chancellor Prof N Lokendra has encouraged students to acquire new skills and knowledge in order to remain relevant in today's era of competition.
Speaking as the chief guest of the closing ceremony of the Northeast NSS Festival 2024 held at the centenary hall of Manipur University, here, on Friday, Prof Lokendra highlighted the role of students and youth in bringing development in the society and improving its socio-economic conditions.
With largest population of youth in the world, India is eyeing to tap potential of such a rich resources to climb to new height of development, he said.
Reflecting on the principle of inclusivity and non-discrimination enshrined in the Constitution of India along with advising the students to get acquainted with the basic concept of the Constitution, the vice chancellor also emphasised the need for the students for updating on the latest technologies that fuel the digital world and so as have an edge in competitive examinations.
Regarding priority of Prime Minister on skill development, he said that in today's world, one needs to upgrade and acquire new skills in order to remain relevant along with highlighting benefits and flexibilities offered in the education under the new National Education Policy.
The festival jointly organised by MU NSS Cell and Regional Directorate NSS, Guwahati under the sponsorship of ministry of youth affairs and sports had NSS Cell programme coordinator Dr Maibam Nodiyachand presiding over the closing ceremony while YAS director T Phullen and NSS NER Guwahati regional director Jangjilong were guests of honour.
A souvenir of the festival was also released and certificates distributed to the participants on the occasion.
