RIMS observes World Bicycle Day 2024

As part of the Swachhta Action Plan 2024, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in collaboration with Manipur Adventure and Mountain Biking Association, Doctors on Pedal, Indian Medical Association (IMA) Manipur Branch, The Ideal Club (Tera) and Bicycle Mayor of Imphal, observed World Bicycle Day 2024, on Monday.
According to a statement released by RIMS media advisor, as part of the observance, a Cyclothon was organised with the aim of drawing public attention on the observance theme "Adopt Bicycle for a Clean Environment and Healthy Lifestyle".
The rally, which commenced from RIMS Jubilee Hall, was flagged off by director Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, and concluded at The Ideal Club.
Speaking at the event, Prof Sunil emphasised the benefits of cycling and its positive impacts along with reminding all concerned that cycling is a sustainable and eco-friendly mode of transportation which not only reduces carbon footprint but also promotes healthy lifestyle by improving cardiovascular health, muscle strength and overall fitness.
Additionally, he stressed the need for the government to establish separate cycle tracks with safety measures in every area to facilitate and promote cycling, even for children.
The event was attended by RIMS Medical Superintendent Prof N Sanjib Singh, deputy director (Admin) RK Me-colt Singh, CAO/FA RIMS Sairem Sarat Singh, doctors, staff and members from Manipur Adventure and Mountain Biking Association, Doctors on Pedal, IMA Manipur Branch, Ideal Club and the Bicycle Mayor of Imphal.
