UNC mourns demise of Naga Mothers' Association president

The United Naga Council (UNC) has expressed deep sorrow Over the sudden demise of Naga Mothers' Association (NMA) president Elli Vilanuo Angela Yhome on July 31, 2026 .
In a condolence message, the UNC extended its deepest sympathies to the bereaved family, relatives and loved ones of the deceased.
The UNC described Yhome as a dedicated educationist and leader who devoted her life to the upliftment of society and the cause of the Naga people.
It lauded her commitment to peace, justice and the dignity of Naga women.
The council stated that with her demise, the Naga people had lost a prominent leader who stood firmly for the historical and political rights of the Nagas without borders.
Her legacy of service, courage, compassion and motherly leadership would continue to inspire generations to come, the UNC said.
The UNC conveyed its solidarity with the bereaved family, the Naga Mothers' Association and all those mourning her loss.
It also prayed for eternal rest for the departed soul and strength for the family to bear the irreparable loss.
