Meira rallies carried out in Bishnupur district

Meira Paibi groups of different localities on Sunday evening organised Meira Rally in different parts of the state opposing crackdown on village volunteers, confiscating their firearms and deployment of Central security forces in the valley area amid Kuki militants continuing attacks.
Meira Paibi activists of Keinou and Ngaikhotig Khunou organised Rally and also formed human chain along Tiddim Road and shouted slogans opposing alleged partisan policies of the government, and demanding replacement of the 'incompetent' security advisor.
Interacting with the media, Keinou Apunba Meira Paibi Lup secretary Kh Leimatombi asked the government to stop deploying additional security forces in the valley area instead of resolving the crisis and said such moves could only worsen the situation.
She also advised the government to consult intellectuals for resolving the crisis and controlling the Kuki narco-terrorists.
Oinam Apunba Meira Paibi Lup also organised a.similar rally at Oinam Keithel which had the participation of displaced people from Churachandpur staying at the Oinam College relief camp, among others.
One of the displaced women said that the security advisor has failed to control the crisis even after 14 months and ridiculed the government policy of conducting search operation in the valley whenever there is an armed attack from the hills.
Meanwhile, the protestors chanted slogans against crackdown on village volunteers and confiscation of their arms while demanding the government to address the grievances of the displaced people.
Similar rallies were also carried out in Yumnam Khunou, Nachou and Kwasiphai areas with the local Meira Paibi Lups spearheading the protest demonstrations.
