Tamenglong, July 30 2024:
A massive landslide set off by incessant rains occurred at Dimthanlong Ward 3 in Tamenglong district headquarters killing a woman and her two years old son while leaving her husband seriously injured.
The landslide that occurred at about 12.30am Tuesday buried the house of Ringsin-lung Kamei, a police constable currently posted at Tamenglong district headquarters.
Kamei originally hailing from Tabanglong village was seriously injured in the incident and rushed to Imphal for treatment.
However, his wife Duanjangliu Kamei, 28 and son Jaoziangai Kamei, 2, were killed.
District administration led by DC Dr Angshim Danghawa visited the bereaved family on Tuesday besides local religious leaders and CSOs.
The deceased mother-on duo was later taken to Tabanglong village for performing the last rites.

They then pulled out Kamei, his wife Duanjangliu (28) and their son Jaoziangai (2) from the debris but the latter two breathed their last on the way to the nearby district hospital while Kamei was evacuated to Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal East for further treatment.
