Imphal, September 29 2026: Spear Corps of Indian Army marked the commencement of Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026 with cleanliness, sanitation and awareness activities at Leikoiching village and various Company Operating Bases (COBs) in Imphal East district.

The campaign began with a cleanliness drive at Hanuman Top, Leikoiching where troops cleaned surrounding areas and ensured proper collection and disposal of waste.

Similar drives were carried out at all COBs to maintain hygienic living and working areas.

As part of awareness initiatives, a lecture on cleanliness, personal hygiene, sanitation, waste disposal and environmental protection was conducted for around 45-50 students at Paramount Standard School, Leikoiching.

A Swachhata pledge was also administered to the students.

A cleanliness competition among the Lines was held to encourage healthy competition, with the best performer to be felicitated as "Swachhata Champion" during the next Sainik Sammelan.

Awareness lectures for troops on hygiene and disease prevention, essay competition, barrack hygiene activities and "Say No to Plastic" campaign were also organised.

The activities highlighted Shramdaan and collective responsibility, reinforcing that cleanliness is a continuous endeavour.
