Arms, bombs recovered; KCP, KYKL members held

Imphal, October 27 2024:
Security forces recovered cache of weapons and explosives during search operations conducted in areas under Thoubal and Churachandpur districts on Saturday.
According to Police Control Room report, the recoveries made from the foothills of Tentha Tuwaband in Thoubal district include one 7.62 mm sniper rifle, five 9 mm pistols with magazines marked 'made in Myanmar', five 36 HE hand grenades, two 2-inch mortar shells, two tube launchers, six units of Stardyne 90 explosives, four electronic detonators, 20 rounds, two tear smoke shells (SR), one gas gun shell, one tear smoke shell (LR), two 16 mm mini-flare cartridges, and a Baofeng radio set.
In Churachandpur district, the search operation carried out in the forested foothills of Thangjing Ridge, west of Teijang village, led to the recovery of two .303 rifles with magazines, an improvised .303 rifle fitted with telescopic sight, two 22 mm semi automatic rifles with magazines, a country-made mortar (Pumpi) with stand and four shells, 30 rounds of ammunition, four non electric detonators, two MKIV tear smoke grenades, five-metre cortex cord, and 10-metre safety fuse.
On the other hand, Imphal West district police arrested one each member of the armed KCP (Noyon) and KYKL from Narankonjil under Wangoi police station on Saturday around 9.30 pm.
The KCP (Noyon) member has been identified as Huidrom Pravash (23), son of H Gojao of Seikmaijin Mamang Leikai, and the KYKL member as Thongam Naoba (21) son of Th Inaocha of Sekmaijin Khoidum.
