HC team scans judicial infrastructure in Chandel

Imphal, June 27 2024:
Chief Justice Siddharth Mridul of the High Court of Manipur led a delegation to the Chandel Court Complex for inspection on Thursday.
The delegation comprising Justices A Bimol Singh, A Guneshwar Sharma, and Golmei Gaiphulshillu, along with officials including registrar general Ojesh Mutum, and commissioner (law) Athokpam Nungshitombi was warmly welcomed by local judicial and administrative officials, including chief judicial magistrate cum civil judge Masana E Panmei, Chandel DC Mayanglambam Rajkumar, and SP Hemant Pandey.
A press release issued by High Court of Manipur's deputy registrar informed that during the visit, the delegation inspected ongoing renovation works at the existing CJM court and assessed a proposed site for the new District & Sessions Court.
Discussions centred on need for sufficient land allocation and expansion to accommodate enhanced judicial facilities.
Highlighting the urgency of establishing the District Court, the delegation underscored its role in ensuring timely and effective justice delivery to the community.
The visit also featured an interactive session with stakeholders, including representatives from the Chandel Bar Association and the All Tribal Lawyers Association, Manipur.
Key outcomes of the visit included resolutions to expedite the establishment of the District & Sessions Court, bolster Information and Communication Technology (ICT) initiatives such as video conferencing facilities, and enhance overall judicial efficiency and accessibility.
The Chief Justice emphasised that these initiatives mark a significant step towards modernising judicial infrastructure in the region.
The High Court's commitment to these developments underscores its dedication to upholding the rule of law and ensuring efficient delivery of justice to all citizens, the press release added.
Meanwhile, another statement of Chandel Bar Association informed that an interactive session was held at the premises of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Chandel during the visit.
Members of the association also submitted a memorandum regarding the construction of a District & Sessions Court in the district to the Chief Justice.
