"The Untiring Woman", "Andro Dreams" listed for Nagaland event

Imphal, February 27 2025:
"The Untiring Woman", a documentary film by Amar Maibam has been selected for screening at the Nagaland CineFest on March 1 .
Nagaland CineFest is a film festival organised by the Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR), Nagaland in collaboration with the Ministry of In formation & Broadcasting and National Film Development.
The film is based on the life of former Indian footballer Oinam Bembem Devi (born 4th April 1980), who chased her goal of becoming a footballer despite her father's resistance.
At 15, her journey rose to a dreamy height when she marched in the held with an Indian jersey in 1995 .

Since then, there was no looking back for her.
In 2017, she was honoured with the Arjuna Award by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, earned the nickname 'Durga of Indian Football' and is currently involved in spreading awareness about women s football in India.
She is the recipient of India's highly prestigious award Padma Shri 2020.After playing for more than two decades for the country, she is now coaching the Manipur women's team.
Her mission is to retain the Senior National Championship title once again.
The film follows the gritty spirit of a woman propelled by the power of determination.
Expressing his joy on being selected for the film festival, Amar stated that he likes to tell stories about people who are an inspiration for all including him.
He stressed the need to feel a personal resonance with the stories, adding that documentaries are not only for entertainment but to educate, inspire and potentially, create meaningful social change.
It may be mentioned here that Amar, who made his directorial documentary debut with 'City of Victims' (2009) based on the extra-judicial killings in Manipur, had also directed "Highways of Life" which won the best film award at Liberation Docfest 2020 (Bangladesh), best Indian documentary at Kolkata International Film Festival 2020, 'Cinema of Resistance' award at the 14th Signs Film Festival 2020, Indian Panorama at 51st International Film Festival of India.
He is now doing post production for "All for my sister", a documentary on celebrated weightlifter Khumukcham Sanjita and her brother fighting for justice on her doping scandal, and another biopic on Indian footballer Oinam Bembem Devi titled, "Bembem - The Untiring Woman" produced by Films Division.
Apart from Amar's "The Untiring Woman", Dr Meena Longjam's documentary "Andro Dreams" will also be screened at the festival.
