Babina Wellness Centre wins Intl design award at Seoul

Imphal, July 26 2025: Babina Wellness Centre, designed by Huidrom Design Studio, has been named the Best Civic Building Architecture Design at the Asia Architecture Design Awards (AADA) 2025 .

The award ceremony was held at Shilla Hotel in Seoul under the theme "Vibrant Asia" .

Set against the green landscape of Manipur, the Babina Wellness Centre was recognised for its focus on mental well-being, sustainability and cultural harmony.

The building's design is rooted in biophilic architecture, incorporating local flora such as bamboo, olive and neem to create a natural healing environment.

The structure also features passive ventilation, natural lighting, energy and water conservation systems, and sustainable materials like glass-fibre-reinforced concrete.

The architectural detailing draws from indigenous traditions and the region's biodiversity.

This marks the third consecutive win for Huidrom Design Studio at AADA, making it the first Indian firm to win three projects at the prestigious platform.

The studio has also received global recognition at design events including the World Architecture Festival, IDEA Awards, iF Design Awards, German Design Awards and Red Dot Design Awards.

Principal designer Suresh Huidrom said that the centre was envisioned as a space where architecture could support healing and foster inner peace and community resilience.

With its emphasis on mental wellness, environmental balance and social upliftment, the Babina Wellness Centre is being seen as a model for future civic spaces.
