Bishnupur, June 26 2024:
Along with organising a rally aimed at promoting unity, Lumlangdong Keithel Development Committee submitted a memorandum to the PM and the union Home minister through the Bishnupur DC, on Wednesday.
The rally which was participated by vendors of Bishnupur market and women vendors kicked off from Bishnupur market and proceeded towards to the DC's office where the women representatives handed over the memorandum to the DC.
The rallyists demanded that village volunteers protecting Manipur should not face arrest, and urged the government to treat both the conflicting communities equally.
They also called for withdrawal of Assam Rifles and other paramilitary forces from Manipur.
Speaking on the sidelines, AMKIL president Lourembam Nganbi expressed concern over the attempts being made to arrest village volunteers who are protecting Meetei villages from arson and attacks by armed Kuki-Zo narco-terrorists.
These actions are clear indication of the central government openly supporting the Kuki-Zo narco-terrorists, she alleged.
Nganbi also questioned the actions taken by both the Manipur and Central governments for alleviating the hardships being faced by the people of Manipur, while emphasising that Manipur must remain united to defeat the diabolic scheme of Kuki-Zo narco-terrorists in the state.
