New office bearers of Aimol Tribe Union elected

The people of Aimol on Tuesday dissolved the office bearers of Aimol Tribe Union Manipur (ATUM) led by S Mungthuireng Aimol and elected new executive members of the Union in a public meeting held at Ngairong Village in Chandel District.
RT Akhel of Tuikhang, Kh Lalkhochung of Aimol Khullen and Ch Ruitorlal of Aimol Satu were elected as new President, Vice-President and General Secretary of Aimol Tribe Union Manipur (ATSUM) respectively for the tenure of 3 years.
The public meeting presided by Ch Chanthoi Aimol, Member 7-Aimol Tampak DCC and RT AkhelAimol as the Sessional Chairman and Secretary reviewed and minutely discussed the declaration made by the incumbent Tribe President S Mungthuireng in some local dailies declaring Aimol as Naga on April 13, 2015 which violates the 'Principles of Neutrality' that was adopted by Aimol people in the past.
Village Chiefs/Chairmen, Secretaries, Villages Authority Members, leaders of Numeivar, Church Leaders and Intellectuals of eleven Aimol Villages from the State attending the meeting showed the wishes of Aimol people to be a separate entity but not a Naga or a Kuki.
The Elected District Council Member also appealed all the organizations in the state not to entertain any statement or declaration made by S Munthuireng Aimol in future.
