Film festival promotional event held

As part of the continuing integrated communication and outreach programme of the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Regional Office, Imphal under Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, a promotional event for the 55th International Film Festival of India-2024 was held Monday at CBC, Imphal office, Wangkhei Yonglan Leirak.
The event was attended by Manipur State Film & Television Institute director Alexander Leo Pou as chief guest, CBC Imphal director Dr Engam Pame as president and Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) secretary Sunzu Bachaspatimayum as guest of honour.
In his speech at the event, director Dr Engam said International Film Festival of India, 2024 will be held at Goa from November 20 to 28 with over 100 delegates expected to attend the festival based on 13 film craft.
As some films from Manipur will be also screened at the festival, the promotional event was conducted with special focus on first time feature film directors and Creative Minds of Tomorrow (CMOT) .
Addressing the gathering, Sunzu Bachaspatimayum said film industry in Manipur is still at the level of cottage industry and yet to be a profitable venture.
He said that many documentary films from Manipur have been screened at International Film Festival of India in the past and there is high expectation of state's film makers producing fiction films.
As part of the event, a panel discussion with first time feature film directors namely Bijou Thaangjam and co-director Meena Longjam of 'Midnight After Dawn', Tolom Karam, director of 'Ayingba Meiree', Binoranjan Oinam, director of 'Langdai Ama' (The Juncture), Kachangthai Gonmei, director of 'Puinaa Puidaa' (Stepmother) and Abul Basar cinematographer and editor of 'Eigisu Oida, Nanggisu Natta' under Creative Minds of Tomorrow was held with Alexander Leo Pou as moderator.
The trailers and teasers of the feature films were also screened.
A theme-based song on the International Film Festival of India, 2024 was also presented by the departmental troupe of CBC, RO, Imphal.
