Managerial skill development prog underway

Imphal, February 21 2025:
A six-day short-term programme on 'Managerial Skill Development for Professional Excellence of Officers and Faculty Members of Higher Educational Institutions' commenced on Friday at the court hall of Manipur University.
The programmers being organised by the UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, Manipur University.
Attending the inaugural event as chief guest, MU vice-chancellor Prof N Lokendra emphasised the importance of faculty members in higher educational institutions possessing strong management skills.
He also noted that Manipur is home to around half a dozen higher educational institutions, funded either centrally or by the state, with administrative and management nor,ms differing based on the funding pattern.

Prof Lokendra highlighted the relevance of organising such short-term programmes, stating that in the face of rising competition, higher educational institutions must focus on delivering not only knowledge but also quality leadership, decision-making abilities, innovation, and financial management skills to their students.
He expressed confidence that the course would help faculty members' transfer valuable knowledge and skills to their students.
The event was also attended by UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, MU, director Prof RK Bhubon Singh, Dr RK Lenin of RIMS department of psychiatry, and MU research and development cell director Prof Ch Ibohal as presidium members.
The programme aims to enhance managerial competencies among officers and faculty members, contributing to the overall excellence of higher education in the state.
