Kakching, June 18 2024:
Expressing deep concern over inaction by central armed forces despite attacks by armed Kukis on peacefully settled Meetei villages in fringe areas for more than one year, Langsai Thouna, Kakching has questioned the policy of the government.
According to Langsai Thouna convener Rajiv Kshetri, Kuki 'refugees' continue to attack Meetei villages since outbreak of the ethnic violence contrary to central armed forces deployed in large numbers in Manipur making no visible attempts to tackle the perpetrators, consequently deepening suspicion about a policy to eliminate the Meetei people.
Even as the conflict between the Meetei and the Kukis has been lingering for over a year, both state and central governments lack the resolve to contain the violence as if harbouring a hidden agenda to balkanise Manipur, he said.
Stressing the need for raising a collective voice of the people against such divisive policy amidst the prevailing situation in Manipur, Rajiv Kshetri said that Langsai Thouna will organise a public gathering at Kakching bazar on June 21 at 5pm to strengthen people's movement.
He appealed to denizens of Kakching and nearby locations to join the gathering and take part in raising their voice to save Manipur in unison.
