Imphal, May 18 2024:
Even as Manipur remains embroiled in an ethnic conflict since May 3 last year which has resulted in death of hundreds of people and displacement of thousands of families with intermittent gun firing still ongoing in the peripheries, many ministers and MLAs of the BJP government in the state are campaigning for their party candidates in the fray for the Lok Sabha election in other states of the country.
This conduct of the state ministers and MLAs has left the local populace fuming with rage and disappointment.
The ethnic crisis in Manipur which broke out on May 3 last year is still continuing with armed Kuki militants continuing their attack on the Meetei villagers residing near the foothills of the state.
Moreover, thousands of displaced people are seeking refuge in various relief camps amid the sweltering heat.
However, rather than taking up measures to restore peace and normalcy in the state, ministers and MLAs, who represent the people, are campaigning for BJP candidates in other states.
People from all walks of life have expressed dissatisfaction over the conduct of their elected representatives, terming it as a false step.
It is worth mentioning that several state ministers and MLAs are currently campaigning in Odisha for the BJP candidate Sambit Patra.
Images capturing their house-to-house campaigns are being circulating widely on social media.
Furthermore, there are reports indicating that more state ministers and MLAs plan to join the campaign trail in Odisha.
