AMMA observes 41st foundation day

Imphal, January 13 2026:
The All Manipur Music Association (AMMA) celebrated its 41st foundation day at TAAC Studio, Yaiskul on January 12 .
As per a press release, the observance ceremony was graced by N Nobin Singh, vice-president, AMMA and Ch Upajit, retd lecturer of Tabla at Shri Shri Bal Mukunda Dev Music College as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, A Rabindra, secretary, AMMA shared that the association was established on January 12, 1985 .
AMMA is also set to organise a competition on "Music Theory" before February, 2026 .
He also highlighted the importance for artists to know music theory and maintained that it has been neglected in contemporary age.
The association is also gearing up to open a home for artists by March of this year, said the secretary.
Meanwhile, Ch Upajit asserted that music students nowadays are mostly interested in the entertainment aspect of music, not the artistic aspect.
Stating that universities offer MA and PhDs in music studies, N Nobin urged music students to work harder.
As a part of the foundation day celebration, showcases of classical and light music were presented before the gathering.
