Imphal, June 10 2025:
United Committee Manipur (UCM) and All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) are gearing up to observe the 24th edition of the "The Great June Uprising and Unity Day" at Kekrupat on June 18 where tributes and fitting homages would be paid to the June 18 martyrs.
Addressing media persons at its Lamphelpat office, here, on Tuesday, UCM secretary general Nahakpam Shanta appealed to all sections of the society to participate in the event to pay homage and show respect to those who laid down their lives for upholding the territorial and emotional integrity of Manipur during the epochal movement.

He said that, as in previous years, the ensuing observance will be held at the Martyrs' Memorial at Kekrupat, and urged the public, clubs, organisations, and Meira Paibi associations to extend their continued support to the event in every possible manner.
While acknowledging the current unstable situation in the state, Shanta appealed to all concerned not to call bandhs or blockades on the day, so as to commemorate June 18 as a tribute to the martyred souls.
"We appeal to everyone to join the observance for the sake of history and to honour those who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Manipur", he said.
AMUCO secretary general Pratap Leishangthem, who was also present at the media briefing, expressed concern over the gradual decline in public participation and remembrance of the observance.
He highlighted the importance of upholding the day as a Significant historical event, symbolising the unwavering spirit of the people of Manipur, who are willing to raise their voices and even sacrifice their lives when the territorial integrity of the state is threatened.
He further appealed to all communities across Manipur to come together in unity and actively participate in the observance.
