Guru Ibempishak Cultural Academy wraps up workshop on 'Murali Haran'

The 10-day workshop cum production on 'Murali Haran', organised by Guru Ibempishak Cultural Academy (GIPCA) under the Chief Ministergi Artist Singgi Tengbang (CMAT) scheme concluded today.
The closing function was held at Ram Gopal Mandap, Khagempalli Pankha, Imphal.
Joint Director of Directorate Of Art and Culture, Manipur, G Dharmadas Sharma, Sangeet Natak Awardee Leimapokpam Lakpati and Grade-I Artist of All India Radio Imphal, Khumukcham Chandramani along with several others attended the function.
Speaking on the occasion, G Dharmadas Sharma said it is commendable that the academy is reviving many essential aspects and forgotten practices of Sankirtan.
He said Sankirtan is a true path to attain a peaceful and compassionate life, as mentioned in the Bhagavad Gita, and appealed to preserve Sankirtan which has come down from ancient times for future generations.
Secretary of the academy Leimapokpam Anandi said it is the duty of everyone to promote the traditions of the past and pass them on to future generations.
She also expressed gratitude to the Directorate of Art and Culture for supporting such initiatives.
As part of the closing function, the academy also presented a performance titled "Murali Haran" .
