Amit Shah can't handle Kuki women: Y Mohen
Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, March 09 2025: RIMS former medical superintendent, Y Mohen on Sunday contended that union home minister Amit Shah, who had instructed for free movement on the national highways after 22 months of conflict, suffered embarrassing defeat at the hands of Kuki womenfolk.

In a press meet held at Manipur Press Club on Sunday, Mohen recounted his experiences on board a bus to bound for Senapati as part of the peace march by FOCS on Saturday.

Mohen said that the union home minister had summoned the Governor and conveyed that there would be free movement along NH-2 front Saturday onwards, as was uploaded on social media platforms and mainstream media.

As such, he talked to FOCS to attend the march, while also enquiring if there was proper understanding with the police in this regard.

At about 7.30 am Saturday, he arrived at Kangla gate and the police personnel on duty informed that there was no ban from the police regarding the march.

However, the OC came in person and asked for furnishing permission letter, adding that without permission, there could be problems.

Shortly after, the police drove away the gathering informed that CrPC 144 is in effect.

Then, the gathering along with the police went to FOCS office, where a fierce spat ensued.

Seeing the quarrel, he decided to return home, Mohen recounted.

He further disclosed on his way out of the FOCS office, a police officer known to him informed that though private vehicles would not be allowed, a bus with full escort has been arranged at the airport.

Thus, he decided to join the bus instead and went to the airport.

At the airport, the SP and additional SP were present.

With their knowledge, he boarded the bus with his niece.

When the bus was about to reach Sekmai, the SP told them to board the Casspir (armoured vehicle) instead.

Meanwhile, after they left the area, he was made aware of a mini video on social media where the Meira Paibi members were arguing with police.

He was puzzled on why they were allowed to board the Casspir but not the Meira Paibi members.

At Kanglatongbi, a large number of women blocked their way.

One of the women managed to take a photo of him inside the Casspir, which went viral.

Questioning if no one thought of his life being at risk when the woman uploaded his photo, Mohen said that the photo led to the Kukis targeting the Casspir at Gamgiphai near Motbung, which dented the windows and injured two personnel.

The former MS continued that when the vehicle arrived at Keithelmanbi, there was heavy gunfire for around an hour.

The Casspir then drove to the 77 Champai camp of BSF and waited there for around 4-5 hours.

He questioned whether the security advisor and DGP failed to their homework, adding that he did not witness any tight security arrangements in dangerous or risky areas.

Stating that the chief secretary, security advisor and DGP have failed, terribly, he remarked that the union home minister was "defeated" at the hands of the Kuki women.

If the arranged bus or the peace March by FOGS had continued, many people could have been injured.

The bus was also extensively damaged.

He then said that when he was at the BSF camp, he learnt of a CID report that a large number of women had blocked Gamgiphai road.

As such, he requested the BSF Major to help him return home.

Shortly after, a large convoy of Assam Rifles came to rescue them both, he recounted, and expressed his gratitude to the central forces..

Stressing that life was put at risk due to the photo which went viral, he mentioned posts by Kuki individuals threatening him while he was still in the BSF camp.

He said that he urged the BSF to help him and his niece return safely which they eventually did but with immense psychological stress.

He continued that it would have been better for the Meira Paibis to question why he was going in a cowardly manner, when he tried every means to join FOCS' peace march and the arrangement made by the authorities with good thoughts in mind.

He asserted that he had been assisting the people in every way possible since the conflict began 22 months ago.
