Imphal, August 08 2026: Lairenjam Maipak Singh on Saturday announced his candidature for the upcoming Manipur Assembly Election 2027 from Langthabal Assembly Constituency.

Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Maipak, a resident of Lilong Chajing Mairenkhong Leikai, said his resignation from the post of Executive Engineer (Civil) of the Rural Engineering Department was accepted by the Government yesterday.

He said his decision to contest is with the aim of bringing a new Manipur.

He noted the hardships faced by people in the last three years and said without a revolution by the youth of Langthabal, the State will be ruined.

He appealed to voters to choose carefully to bring peace, adding that if elected he would not accept salary and would distribute public money to the public.

Maipak said he is yet to decide on a political party.
