Seminar on 'Cooperative Financial Sustainability' held

The Institute of Cooperative Management, Imphal, under the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India, in collaboration with Manipur Dairy, Manipur State Cooperative Bank and Sahakar Bharati, organised a one-day seminar on "Financial Sustainability of Cooperatives in the Changing Economic Scenario" at Manipur Press Club today.
The inaugural session was attended by W Malemnganba Chenglei, Commissioner, Department of Cooperation; Ramalingam Kasinathan, General Manager, NABARD Imphal Branch; Hitesh Kewalramani, Assistant Director, NCDC Satellite Office; P Ranjit, President, Manipur State Cooperative Bank; Seram Kennedy, Managing Director, Manipur Dairy; and Dr Kh Ramanando, Director, ICM Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ramanando said cooperatives play a vital role in strengthening the economy and improving people's living standards and socio-economic conditions.
He noted that cooperatives have a significant role in Manipur.
Citing the crisis in the State since 2023 and its impact on the economy, he stressed the need to form cooperative societies in sectors like fisheries, dairy and piggery farming.
He added that working in groups through cooperatives can help revive the state's economy.
