AR conducts security meetings, anti-drug awareness drives across Manipur

Assam Rifles conducted a series of security interactions, community outreach programmes and antidrug awareness campaigns across Chandel, Imphal West and Churachandpur districts on August 4 and 5 as part of its efforts to strengthen regional security and promote social welfare.
IGAR (South) in a release said that the series of events successfully combined strategic security reviews with public welfare mandates, emphasizing close coordination between security forces and local stakeholders to maintain peace and stability in the region.
At Joupi in Chandel district on August 4, Assam Rifles organised a security interaction attended by 20 representatives from 16 villages.
The meeting provided a platform for village leaders to raise local concerns, discuss the prevailing security situation and deliberate on measures for regional development.
Continuing the civil-military engagement on August 5, Assam Rifles convened another security meeting at its Company Operating Base, Komlakhong, in Imphal West district to review the internal security situation ahead of the Independence Day celebrations.
The meeting was attended by 31 local stakeholders, including representatives of Meira Paibi groups, youth organisations, local clubs and anti-drug committees.
In Churachandpur district, Assam Rifles organised anti-drug awareness programmes under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan at Hengkot, T Kuangkhai and Sangaikot villages.
Around 100 villagers participated in the campaign, which highlighted the physical, psychological and social consequences of substance abuse.
