Education Secretary assures special teachers for special children

Education (S) secretary Naorem Praveen Singh on Monday distributed wheel chairs and hearing appliances to children at the Maha Union Government Higher Secondary School (MUGHSS), Chandel as part of the Week-Long Mega Identification, Assessment & Aids and Devices Distribution Camp in 35 blocks.
The camp was organised by the Zonal Education Office (ZEO), Chandel under Samagra Shiksha to promote Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam (5th Anniversary of NEP, 2020) in collaboration with RBSK Team, District Health Department and Artificial Limb Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), Guwahati.
In his address, N Praveen stated that the second phase of the camp is targeting coverage of the whole state and compile detailed information on special students in every school along with equipment and appliances needed, followed by initiative to provide special teachers to take care of special students in all the schools.
As part of the camp, students from various schools in Chandel town were identified and assessed by specialist doctors from ENT, orthopaedics and psychiatry.
The camp will be held at Chakpikarong High School in Chakpikarong sub-division of Chandel on Tuesday.
The education (S) secretary along with Chandel ZEO in-charge Hb Starson Anal, MUGHSS principal in-charge Kl Warson Anal and staff of ZEO, Chandel, also inspected the school and took stock of the situation.
He also held a lengthy discussion with the principal in-charge on areas to improve the educational institution.
