AR conducts medical camp at Kakching

Kakching, August 03 2026: Assam Rifles organised a comprehensive medical camp in Kakching district on Monday, providing essential healthcare services to local residents and addressing the medical needs of wards of serving soldiers.

According to a statement issued by IGAR (South), the initiative was aimed at strengthening trust and cooperation between the security force and the local population by extending quality healthcare services to the community.

A total of 167 people benefited from the camp, which provided expert consultations, specialised check-ups and treatment.

A combined medical team comprising five security force personnel, including two doctors and three nursing assistants, along with civil specialists in gynaecology, microbiology, paediatrics, ophthalmology and dentistry, attended to the beneficiaries.

The camp featured lab testing, refractive error screening, nerve conduction tests for diabetes and peripheral neuropathy screening, as well as free distribution of essential medicines to needy attendees.

Dr Bijendra Yengkhom, Officer-in-Charge of the National AIDS Control Programme (NACP), Kakching district, conducted an awareness session on HIV.

This was followed by voluntary HIV screening conducted by NACP staff with the written consent of participants.

The compassionate environment and dedicated support earned heartfelt gratitude from all beneficiaries towards Assam Rifles for its selfless service.

IGAR (S) added that such initiatives reaffirm the Force's commitment to supporting communities and promoting health, stability and social well-being across the region.
