Foundation stone laid for Sanamahi temple at Uyungkhunou

Kakching, August 02 2026: A foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of a new temple dedicated to the Sanamahi religion was held at Waikhong Uyungkhunou Community Hall in Kakching district today.

The ceremony was organised by EEtinpham, Kongba Nongthombam Leikai, Imphal East.

The foundation stone was laid with traditional rituals by Angom Ningthou Angom Rosoraj Mani at Waikhongkhunou Lanjanpokpi Ching, who attended the function as the chief guest.

The programme was presided over by EETINPHAM chief advisor Chamba Laishram as the functional president.

Among the dignitaries present were Waikhong Gram Panchayat administrative committee chairperson Wangkhem Broken; Manipur Chamber of Commerce and Industries president Dr Basudev; Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board member secretary Sandham Gandharaj; Luplakpa of Lainingthou Sanamahi Thougal Kanglup Laishram Ishabanta; Meetei Leepun Thouburel Heisnam Shilan Meitei; Uyungkhunou Rural Development Organisation general secretary N Thoithoi Meitei; AMWJU president Asem Bhakta; EGM Manipur president Khogendra Khomdram; and advocate Elangbam Amujao, among others.
