NFDC launches free VFX & animation training for NE youth

The National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC) has announced a fully funded, eight-month residential training programme in 3D animation and visual effects (VFX) for aspiring professionals from the North Eastern region, in a bid to address regional disparities in access to professional creative training.
The initiative, organised under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, is open to candidates from all the eight northeast states.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old as of June 2025, with a minimum qualification of Class 12 or Class 10 plus three years of relevant industry experience.
A total of 100 participants will be selected through a screening and evaluation process for the intensive programme, to be conducted at a fully equipped training facility in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, in collaboration with Aptech Ltd.
The course includes six months of classroom instruction followed by two months of industry exposure through on-the-job training.
The curriculum covers hands-on modules, industry-relevant projects and real-world workflows used in film studios and content creation companies.
Selected candidates will receive a high-performance laptop for the duration of the course, along with free residential accommodation, three daily meals, and access to all training resources and mentorship.
Boarding, lodging and tuition will be provided at no cost.
NFDC says the goal is to ensure talented youth from economically and geographically disadvantaged areas can compete on equal footing in India's growing digital economy.
The programme is the third edition of NFDC's residential training for North East youth, aimed at buildihg a pipeline of skilled digital artists and animation professionals from the region.
NFDC said that the initiative not only imparts in-demand technical skills but also serves as a platform for employment, entrepreneurship and long-term economic empowerment.
Registration is open until August 15, with a non-refundable fee of Rs 1,180.Applications can be submitted via the NFDC website or the dedicated portal at https://skill.nfdcindia.com/Specialproject.
Upon completion, participants will receive a joint certificate from NFDC and the National Council for Vocational Education and Training.
