Imphal, July 01 2024:
Kangleipak Kahba Lup (KKL) has asked the central government to seriously take any threat to Manipur's integrity as failure to uphold interest of the border state and sentiment of the people will eventually affect the national integrity.
In a release, KKL secretary general Luwangcha U Ngamkheingakpa emphasised that instead of scheming to execute its vested interests agenda and beguiling people of Manipur, the centre should accord top priority to resolving the ongoing conflict and should acknowledge the fact hurting the sentiment of any group or community settling in India will be detrimental to the national interest.
On the other-hand, the secretary urged all concerned to contact the Lup in case any of its executive member or ad visor indulges in any activity without the approval of the executive committee.
Meanwhile, highlighting utter frustration of the people over the President of India not mentioning a single word about the unrest situation in Manipur in her address on the first day of 18th Lok Sabha session, Thawai Mirel expressed that silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue in his 'Maan Ki Baat' radio broadcast has not only testified that the Prime Minister does not consider Manipur as a part of India but is also akin to rubbing salt to the wound.
In a release, Thawai Mirel convenor Th Dara regretted that the Manipur chief minister, cabinet ministers and MLAs have been showering praises on Prime Minister Modi, even though the latter continues to.maintain silence on the Manipur crisis, thereby ringing out the message that Manipur is not considered a part of India.
While opining that unrestrained eulogising of the central leaders, the Prime Minister in particular, regardless of the Presidential address in the Lok Sabha and the PM's 'Maan Ki Baat' programme are telltale proof of the chief minister and ruling party legislators simply waiting for directive from New Delhi rather than working to impress upon the central leaders to initiate steps to end the crisis, the convenor wryly remarked that to ensure chief minister, his cabinet colleagues and ruling party MLAs listen upcoming programmes of 'Maan ki Baat', they are more than willing to present a radio set each to them.
Dara also advised thestate's legislators to bear in mind that the conflict in the state will persist till PM Narendra Modi considers Manipur as an integral part of India.
