Two arrested with drugs in separate incidents

Imphal, June 01 2024: Security forces arrested a man and a woman with drugs in two separate incidents on Friday.

According to a police report, 36 Assam Rifles arrested man with brown sugar during a mobile checking-frisking of a passenger bus (MN 05 C 0967) coming from T Khongkhai to Churachandpur, at Sangaikot Village Road Junction, at around 10.20 am on Friday.

The arrested man has been identified as Ginlunlen alias William (22) s/o Ginsuonmung of Kholian village, Chandel district.

The 36 AR team recovered 60 soap cases containing 2.3kg of brown sugar from Gmlunlen's possession.

Both the seized drugs and the person were handed over to Sangaikot PS.

In this regard, the PS has registered a case under ND&PS Act.

Meanwhile, a combined team of 5 AR and 45 AR apprehended a woman with brown sugar from Dalpati Ward No 2 near Shiva Mandir under Moreh PS at around 3.30 pm on Friday.

The arrested woman has been identified as Chinngaivung (30) w/o Chinenpao of Dalpati.

The team recovered 60 packets of brown sugar (weighing a total of 27gm) packet, 40 packing pipe packets, 15 gemstones, 47 packets containing WY tablets (each packet weighing 971gm) and cash amounting to Rs 3.5 lakh.

Both the arrested woman and the seized items have been handed over to Moreh PS for further course of legal action.
