PNTM conducts tree plantation, cleanliness drive

Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me (PNTM), in collaboration with stakeholders concerned launched its first-ever Mass Tree Plantation and Cleanliness Drive on Friday under the theme "Together for a Cleaner, Greener Poumai Land" .
In a statement, PNTM said the drive was carried out with the dual objective of fostering environmental awareness and instilling a collective sense of responsibility toward the preservation and beautification of its ancestral homeland.
The large-scale environmental initiative saw the planting of approximately 6000 indigenous saplings across Poumai areas, with active participation from 76 federating and subordinate units.

A parallel cleanliness drive was also conducted, reflecting PNTM's comprehensive approach to environmental sustainability.
PNTM president J Dalounii An-gam announced a new incentive programme during the campaign saying that the cleanest village within Poumai jurisdiction will be recognised and awarded annually.
Villages demonstrating consistent care and commitment to tree plantation efforts will also be felicitated at the end of each tenure, he added.
The organisation expressed gratitude to the 76 federating and subordinate units and Khumai Youth Students' Organization (KYSO), Tungjoy Youth Students' Organization (TYSO), village elders, church leaders and community stakeholders for their active support and unwavering dedication which has made the mission possible.
It is also conveyed gratitude to all concerned for providing saplings and logistical assistance.
Describing the initiative as a "humble yet historic beginning," PNTM stated that the drive would be institutionalised as an annual tradition under the slogan "PNTM: Our Land, Our Legacy, Our Responsibility".
The initiative aims to instil environmental awareness, promote waste management and safeguard the natural heritage of Poumai land for future generations, the statement added.
