Eningthou Palcha remembered with honour event

Kangleipak Calendar Board remembered 'Eningthou' Maliyapham Palcha with the first observance in honour of the late king whose reign marked the establishment of the Meetei calendar, linking it to the present Gregorian calendar year of 2025 which is Palcha Maliyapham Kumshing-3423 .
The observance function held at Manipur Press Club on Thursday was attended by IPR director Ng Uttam as chief guest, Kangleipak Calendar Board president Acharya Ahambhijit Sairom as president and Calendar Board vice-president Mangangc-ha Keisham Ibomcha, Board advisor Akham Langol, Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board member Maisnam Shivadutta Luwang, Padma Medicare managing director Dr Ashangbam Vivekananda Singh and social entrepreneur Hidam Bonyson Angomcha as guests of honour.
Addressing gathering at the event, Shivadutta said yearly calendar produced in Manipur will incorporate Thapan with time and such calendar will be produced in the coming two/three months.
He exuded that the first observance in honour of 'Eningthou' Maliyapham Palcha would open a new page in the quest for ancient history of Manipur.
Delivering the key note address of the event, Kangleipak Calendar Board general secretary Soraisam Sanjit said 'Eningthou' Maliyapham Palcha was one of the great kings of Manipur who left wealth and knowledge for future generations of the land and accordingly, the event was organised to honour the late king.
He said that the present yearly calendar being used by the Meetei was introduced by Iningthou Maliyapham Palcha and present Gregorian calendar year of 2025 is 3423 Kumshing in Meetei calendar.
